All-Electric Subaru Solterra

Introducing the Subaru Solterra, Subaru's first ever all-electric SUV. The Solterra features an unmatched combination of traditional Subaru engineering and next-generation technology. Versatile and ready for any adventure, the Solterra is built with dual-function X-MODE, Downhill Assist Control, Grip Control and a generous 210 mm of ground clearance. The passenger cabin continues the high-tech theme with a multitude of features that make driving easier. The roomy cabin can seat five passengers comfortably and still have loads of space for luggage and other cargo items. If you figured owning an EV would be a compromise, you may need to think again.

Range and Power

The Solterra is powered by two e-Axle's, one in the front and one in the back, providing balanced power to each wheel. This style of engineering generates stability driving through corners as well as providing traction in slippery conditions. Each e-Axle develops 80 kW of energy, giving the Solterra a total output of 215 hp and 249 lb-ft of torque.

The Solterra's all-electric range (AER) is up to 359 km.² However, using some of the battery saving techniques like switching to eco mode and using the regenerative braking system can significantly increase your range.

Symmetrical Full-Time AWD

On top of the impressive power output, the Solterra's AWD system is one of the best in its class. One of the many benefits is that the system is engaged all the time, meaning no matter the conditions, you will have traction when you need it most. Going off the beaten path also becomes a piece of cake when you got all four wheels pulling you down the trail.

Charge with Ease

The Solterra can use one of the three levels of charging. Level One chargers can be plugged into any wall outlet at home. Level One charging is the slowest, so this is the perfect option for plugging in at the end of the day and keeping your battery topped up. Level Two chargers can be installed in your home, and are faster than a Level One. Level Three public chargers are the fastest, charging your battery from 10% to 80% state of charge in 60 minutes or more.¹ Public charging is a great option for road trips, where you can be in and out quickly and affordably, as public stations cost significantly less than filling a tank with fuel.

Advanced Technology

The Solterra comes packed with all kinds of features that make your daily drives a little bit easier and a lot safer. Using the Subaru Eyesight Driver Assistance Technology, the Solterra will automatically adjust your speed on the highway, ensuring a safe following distance at all times. Getting in and out of parking is easier with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert system. The Solterra has eyes in areas that are hard to see from the driver seat, making it the best co-pilot in these kind of situations.

Disclaimers
1. Charging times and capacities are estimated based on ideal charging conditions and infrastructure. As temperatures decrease below 10°C, charging time will increase significantly, and charging capacity will decrease significantly. Charging may slow down more than other comparable models in weather conditions below 0°C and may not be possible when the battery temperature drops to around -20°C and below. Amongst others and non-exclusively, drive battery conditions, charger specifications, charging infrastructure, and Level 3 DC fast charging fully more than once per day also can negatively affect charging time. See the owner’s manual for details.
2. Based on Natural Resources Canada’s (NRCan) approved guidelines. Refer to NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide available at https://fcr-ccc.nrcan-rncan.gc.ca/en for more information. Full battery charge and ideal conditions are required. Figures will vary based, amongst others and non-exclusively, on driving and charging habits, speed, accessory use, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, road condition, and other factors. In sub-ideal conditions, figures may worsen by more than 50%. Battery capacity decreases with time and use, which will further reduce range. See the owner’s manual or NRCan’s Fuel Consumption Guide for details.

FAQs

Can you charge the Solterra in the rain?

Yes, you can charge the Solterra in the rain. You never have to worry about electrical shocks or damaging the outlet. Tip of the day, when you go to the car wash, just make sure you close the charge port to prevent any dirt or debris from entering.

What charger do I use for the Solterra?

Solterras can be charged on one of the three levels of charging. Level one, level two, or at a public charging station which is level three. Level one charging can be done on any power outlet at home, but it is the slowest. You can install a level two charger in your home, which is a lot faster than level one. Level three charging is the fastest, but its going to cost you a little bit of money.

How long does it take to charge the Solterra?

With the 110 level one charger, you can plug this in to any wall outlet at home and it will take roughly 44 hours to charge. The level 2 charger takes 9 to 11 hours for a full charge, while the level three fast charger can give you a full charge in roughly two hours.

Where can you charge the Solterra?

How far can you drive in the Solterra?

Range is incredibly important for electric vehicles. With the Solterra you have a range of up to 370 km/s so that can get you all the way to Red Deer.
