Overview

Take precise engineering, tarmac-tested performance and plenty of established street cred and let it loose: The outcome is the new 2011 Subaru Impreza WRX and WRX STI. Pure performance cars like nothing else on the road today. Both models now offer a 4-door sedan or 5-door sport wagon with chiselled exterior styling that reflects both a motorsports pedigree and the latest in aerodynamics. And while the WRX benefits from a wider track, wider tires and fierce wide-body design, the WRX STI now boasts a lower ride height and completely redesigned suspension tuning, making it the fastest WRX STI ever with the highest cornering speeds we've ever recorded on the famed Nurburgring. At their core, each rally-inspired model is also equipped with a turbocharged SUBARU BOXER engine and a sophisticated variation of Subaru symmetrical full-time All-Wheel Drive engineered to get your blood pumping and deliver incontestable levels of power, handling and control. Exterior

The bold exterior styling of the 2011 WRX and WRX STI can excite standing still almost as quickly as in motion. Whether your preference is a 4-door or 5-door body style, both are audaciously and purposefully designed with a wide stance for high-speed stability and excellent manoeuvrability. The sculpted front bumper, side sills and spoiler generate increased road-holding, while the new 4-door WRX STI, with its massive rear-wing spoiler, provides even greater downforce at elevated speeds. Both cars also feature a standard functional hood scoop as well as prominent wheel arches with cooling vents to manage airflow around the large front wheels, drawing heat away from the powerful SUBARU BOXER engine. And optional upgrade packages add a power glass sunroof for a breath of fresh air in good weather as well as fog lights to navigate through murkier conditions with confidence. Everything has a purpose here: heightening performance and proving that, in some cases, looks do matter.

 

 

Interior

On the one hand, WRX and WRX STI models are endowed with rally-inspired sport seats and aluminum alloy sport pedals. On the other hand, both also add surprising practicality with room for five adults and multimedia conveniences such as a voice-activated* Bluetooth® hands-free system and MediaHub for iPod®/USB integration with Bluetooth streaming audio. Optional packages put even more creature comforts on tap: While the 2011 WRX's Limited Package gains leather seating surfaces as well as SIRIUS® Satellite Radio (3-month trial subscription), the 2011 WRX STI's Sport-tech Package adds automatic climate control and a Pioneer® AVIC in-dash navigation/audio system with Pioneer A-Series front speakers to the mix. The cockpit is loaded: you just have to decide if it's time to go.
